A Note From the MFA President

I can only hope that everyones season has been a good one. The old hawk is now in its sixth season and dog tame. The two dogs are helping to flush more rabbits than I thought possible. The new passage hawk has been fun to hunt as well.  This winter has had its ups and down as the weather always plays such a major role in this field sport. We have had lots of snow and ice. Our rabbit population has been fair. No injuries. Its been a good season to say the least.

I got a chance to go hawking with several Missouri falconers in Dodge City and the Kansas hawking club during their mid-winter meet. The jack population is good this year. Flat, and lots of wind described the meet in a nutshell. Stephen and I had a great time. I am hoping that I can make it west one more time this season.

I will be trying to in list help in the near future. I need people to help out with the workshops at the summer picnic. Please let me know if you can help out. The picnic will be in St Louis in August. It is an important part of what this club has become, helping those starting out in the sport.

I m looking forward to the next meet in March.  I talked to Rob and Mike the first week of Feb and they were still finding lots of rabbits.

Hope to see you in St. Louis,
